When we exchanged rings, we hoped our family of two would grow.
It has, into a family of 4. We're just split in half.
Two of us walk the Earth while two of us fly in Heaven.

Dear NICU nurse...

Dear NICU nurse...
Thank you.
For everything.

Seriously.
For the swift yet delicate work your hands did. For changing Evan's nappies. For checking his blood gasses. For explaining to us what was happening and what you were doing. For being so tender with our tiny son and tender with us. For holding back the tears knowing that you were fighting a losing battle but fought on for our sakes. For excusing yourself so you could break down in the hallway and retain your composure for us. For showing us that this wasn't just a 9-5 job for you, that you were impacted by our situation and that your heart was breaking as well.

I am just weeping! What a neat post! My heart grieves for you Kara. As a nurse it was cool to read...it makes me realize that we do have an impact. Praying for you! Thanks for sharing your raw and beautiful emotion. Praying God continues to heal your heart (and fill your womb :)
